
India: Kashmir’s winter destinations face pollution crisis as tourism sours
Several towns in Indian-administered Kashmir have seen a surge in tourism, with over 1 million visitors last year. However, the influx is straining the region’s fragile ecosystem, as over 2,000kg of litter is collected daily from hotels and vendors. Without intervention, the region risks being known more for its trash than its pristine landscapes.
